Apollonios of Kition

Apollonius of Citium was a Greek physician of the city of Kition on Cyprus. He lived in the 1st century BC

Apollonius was an empiricist, studying under Zopyrus in Alexandria, later lived as a doctor in his hometown. He is the author of a commentary on Hippocrates ' Peri Arthron (over joints) in three books, the first of the king Ptolemy of Cyprus ( † 58 BC) was dedicated. He was provided to illustrate the subjects covered by Hippocrates Einrenkungsmethoden with illustrations. In addition, witnessed by him a polemical treatise on Hippokrateserklärung against Heraclides of Tarentum and therapeutics.
