Arabella Churchill (royal mistress)

Lady Arabella Churchill (* February 23, 1648, † May 30 1730 in London) was a mistress of King James II and mother of four of his children.

Life

Arabella was a daughter of the English statesman and historian Sir Winston Churchill (1620-1688) and his wife Lady Elizabeth Drake ( † 1690) and the older sister of John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough.

Your relationship to the then Duke of York began in 1665, when he was still married to Anne Hyde. Arabella, who had previously come as a maid of honor of Queen Henrietta Maria at the English Court, was appointed maid of honor of the Duchess and got still alive Anne's two children of James. After another two children after she married Charles Godfrey in 1674 and got him three more children. Lady Arabella Churchill died on 30 May 1730 in London and was buried in Westminster Abbey.
