Arad County

Arad is a Romanian county ( Judet ) in Crisana and Banat with the county capital Arad. Its common abbreviation and the license plate number are AR.

The Arad County is bordered on the north and northeast by the Bihor county, on the east by the Alba County, in the east and southeast by the Hunedoara county, on the south by the Timiş county and on the west by Hungary.

Demography

In 2002, the county of Arad 461 730 inhabitants and a population density of 60 inhabitants per km ². 82.2 % of the population are Romanians, 10.7% Hungarians, 3.8 % Roma and 1.1% are German ( Banat Swabians ).

2011 had the Arad county 430 629 inhabitants thus a population density of 56 inhabitants per km ².

The county has a total area of ​​7754 km ², equivalent to 3.25 % of the area of Romania.
