Arådalen

Arådalen is a valley west of the mountain Hundshögen ( 1,371 m) in the southern Oviksfjäll in Jämtland, Sweden. The valley was named after the river Arån which flows from the south into the Ljungan from the valley. This area was designated in 2006 as Arådalen nature reserve. In this valley there is the mountain pastures Västra Arådalen (western Arådalen ) and Östra Arådalen (Eastern Arådalen ). As a "place" Arådalen is talk generally considered Västra Arådalen.

Arådalen is characterized by some 130 cabins are privately owned. Here in 1895 the first youth hostel of the Swedish Tourist Association STF ( Arådalens Turiststation ) was established on dammed lake Angelikasjön. In 1909, then today's hikers hostel was built, which is open during the summer for guests. Near the hostel there is a chapel, built in the 1970s, as well as some of the skating Samí. Youth and chapel are in possession of the Church of Sweden, the large areas belong to Arådalen.

As a side road from Fäbodvägen a paved road was at the same time with this in the years 1964/1965 created by Arådalen and in the adjacent to the west Samídorf Glen.
