Archibald L. Linn

Archibald Ladley Linn (* October 15, 1802 in New York City; † October 10, 1857 in Schenectady, New York) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1841 and 1843 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Archibald Ladley Linn was born in the early 19th century in New York City. In 1820 he graduated from Union College in Schenectady. He studied law. After receiving his license to practice law, he began to practice in Schenectady. He married on January 31, 1825 Mary Teneyck McClelland. On January 17, 1840, he was district judge in Schenectady County - a position which he held until February 9, 1845.

Politically he belonged to the Whig party. In the congressional elections of 1840 for the 27th Congress, he was the eleventh electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Nicholas B. Doe on March 4, 1841. He retired after the March 3, 1841 out of the Congress. As Kongressabgeordnteter he had presided over the Committee on Public Expenditures.

In 1844 he sat in the New York State Assembly. He died on 10 October 1857 in Schenectady and was buried there on the St Joseph's Cemetery.
