Archie Bell & the Drells

Archie Bell & the Drells was an American vocal group.

The band was founded in 1965 in Houston / Texas. The quartet visited together in high school and participated in several talent competitions. 1966 you got a record contract. The first single was called She's My Woman and was a flop.

The big success came in 1968 with a new record label with the hit Tighten Up. The song was No. 1 on the U.S. hit parade and a million seller.

Starting in 1970 were only small success in England with the singles Here I Go Again. There's Gonna Be A Showdown and Soul City Walk are recorded, then broke up the group.
