Archivist of the United States

The Archivist of the United States (English Archivist of the United States ) is the head of agency to the National Archives and Records Administration ( NARA). First incumbent was Robert Digges in 1934 Wimberly Connor, at the same time as the Authority was created by the Congress. These archivists were bound by instructions to the creation of NARA on 1 April 1985 as an independent authority.

The archivist is responsible for the maintenance of records, the safe storage and segregation. Its headquarters are in Washington, D.C.
