Archivista

Archivista (Italian for " archivist " ) is a web application for the realization of the paperless office. With their documents can be collected from different sources, secure and searchable stored digitally and are re-exported. It is manufactured by the Swiss Archivista GmbH, to also distributes pre-installed solutions with hardware, called ArchivistaBoxes, and technical support.

The software is distributed as free software under the terms of version 2 of the GNU General Public License ( GPL). Development began in the early 1990s, first as software for indexing the scans of paper documents. Features

The whole system is provided inter alia in the form of ISO image files from which you can create visual media that are bootable directly usable as a so-called live system. It provides means of CUPS printer server, print jobs can intercept and archive documents in electronic formats. Contents of IMAP e- mail inboxes can be archived. Devices such as document scanners can be integrated on the fly. It sets long-term archiving to enable statutory standards. The document archive database can be scoured with full text search and any other document issued in PDF. It can also archive DVDs can be produced with included viewer software. It contains a text recognition solution by which the stored raster graphic images from scanned paper documents can be made ​​searchable. Also, bar code and the contents of filled paper forms can be read by a machine.

Technology

The software is based on the Linux distribution kit T2 and other free software components and used throughout open file formats. To access scanner devices SANE and ExactScan be used. The text recognition function is based by default on CuneiForm, Tesseract and the utility hocr2pdf, in the commercially sold complete packages the command-line version of FineReader is included. The core of the modular application is written in Perl and PHP.
