Arctic Cat

Arctic Cat is a manufacturer of ATVs and snowmobiles in Thief River Falls in the USA. Arctic Cat is considered a strong competitor for other snowmobile manufacturers such as Polaris, Yamaha and Bombardier (with the brands: Ski-Doo and Lynx ).

Snowmobiles

Arctic Cat is known for the series of ZR snowmobile 500, 600, 700 and 800, as well as the equally well known Thundercat, which was the fastest snowmobile -1990s.

All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs )

Arctic Cat also manufactures a whole range of models of ATVs ( all terrain vehicles ). The engine size moves thereby 300-951 cc. Similarly, a diesel engine with 700 cc is in the program. The current model range comprises of the quad model 300 DVX with 300 cc displacement. The ATVs are the models 400 2 × 4 and 450 4 × 4 represents the entry The Utility vehicles are equipped with engines with capacities of 550 cc, 650 cc, 695 cc (EFI), 951 cc (EFI) and 700 cc ( diesel ) equipped. The utility vehicles are also equipped with a long wheelbase, called TRV ( Two Rider Vehicle) available. Based on the UTILIY vehicles some special models have been developed, such as Arctic Panther or the Arctic Cruiser.

In 2010, Christian Joormann German SUV champion on a Arctic Cat Prowler 550H1 in the new class of the DGM, the UTV Cup. 2011 Christian Joormann occupied second place in the UTV class in the DGM, also on a Arctic Cat Prowler 550H1.

Company History

David Johnson, Edgar Allan Hetteen Hetteen and developed and built in 1954 a machine to drive on snow can. The company was known as Polaris Industries. Edgar left the company in June 1960 and founded the Polar Manufacturing in Thief River Falls. The company name (company) was later changed to Arctic Enterprises.

Arctic Enterprises began producing Arctic Cat snowmobiles in the year 1960. Later Arctic Enterprises expanded by buying boat manufacturers such as Spirit Navy, Silver Line, Larson, and Lund. Spirit Marine produced the first wetbike (a kind Watercraft) in 1978.

The snowless winter of 1980 and the overproduction forced Arctic Enterprises shut down operations and the boat building forming subsidiaries to sell. 1981 reported Arctic Enterprises in bankruptcy and put a 1982 production. 1984 a new company was founded with the company Arctco, which started the production of the Arctic Cat Snowmobiles again. In 1996 the company changed its company officially in Arctic Cat.

Since 2003, the sale of ATVs surpasses due to reduced snowfall of the snowmobiles.
