Ardeşen ( Laz / Georgian არტაშენი / Artaşeni ) is a Turkish coastal city on the Black Sea and a district in the province of Rize. Its population consists of many ethnic minorities, such as the Laz, Ponto Greeks and Hemşinli. The city has seventeen surrounding villages. The county has a population of 39 001 (2008 ).
