Arenas Club de Getxo

Arenas Club de Getxo is a Spanish football club from the Basque town of Getxo. He won the 1919 Copa del Rey, at that time the only pan- Spanish Championship, and reached the finals three other times (1917, 1925, 1927). In 1928, Arenas Club was one of the founding members of the Spanish football league. The club currently plays in Tercera División of, the fourth division of Spain.

History

The club from the district of Las Arenas Getxo, a posh suburb of Bilbao was founded as Arenas Football Club into existence in 1909, and 1912 he finally accepted the current name Arenas Club de Getxo. The first major success came in 1917 when they played the final of the Copa del Rey, where Real Madrid ( Madrid FC at that time ) were beaten 1:2 in extra time. Two years later, finally succeeded in winning the Spanish Cup final opponents FC Barcelona was beaten 5-2. Two more times the finals could be achieved, but both were each lost to FC Barcelona and Real Unión Irun. 1928 Arenas Club was one of the founding clubs of the Spanish Soccer League, the top division is also remained in the first seven years, and this reached a third place 1929/30, as the best result. 1935, the club was relegated to the Segunda División, and could not reach the top flight of Spain to the present.
