Argalasti

Argalasti (Greek Αργαλαστή ( f sg ) ) is a small town in Thessaly and seat of the municipality Notio Pelion. It is located in the south of Pelion mountain range ( 1624 m, Pourianos Stavros ) on a fertile plateau 196 meters above sea level and about 41 km from the city of Volos. The town is a commercial and tourism center of the region. Argalasti is the starting point for the nearby beaches at Pagasitian Golf ( Horto, Kalamos, Lefokastro ) and the Aegean Sea ( Potistika, Melani, Paltsi ).

Argalasti 1912 recognized as a rural community ( kinotita ) and in 1997 with the incorporation of metohi and Xinovrysi to township ( dimos ) upgraded. With the administrative reform of 2010, she was with four other municipalities in the Pelion Peninsula to the new community Notio Pelion (, South Pelion ') merged.

Argalasti has a school, a high school, a post office and a main course ( plateia).

Attractions

The platia is the social center of town. Around the square itself cafes, taverns, kiosks, a post office and a play group. The square is particularly used in the evening as a meeting place for the locals.

A masterpiece of architecture at the beginning of the 20th century, the tower of the church of St. Apostles with its impressive clock tower.

In the summer months, every Saturday is a market place. There, local produce ( fruit and vegetables), as well as various other items (utensils, knives, clothes, ...) are sold.
