Argant

The Gänsfüßer, sometimes also called Gänsfüßler or Argant, is an old, strong growing red variety. You probably originates from southern Europe and is often brought in French literature connected with Spain. The earliest mention of a vine variety in Bad Durkheim was 1504 grape Gänsfüßer. Under the name Genssfüssel the species found in the 16th century, an entry in the Latin Kreuterbuch the Palatine botanist Hieronymus Bock.
