Argento Soma

Argento Sōma (Japaneseアルジェント ソーマ) is an anime television series from 2000, which was implemented as a manga.

The work deals with the defense of Earth against aliens by means of an artificial metallic creature. It can be classified in the genre Drama, Mecha and science fiction.

Action

Humanity is under attack by metal aliens. In order to develop a weapon against this, Dr. Noguchi and his assistant Maki Agata want to revive a metal beings. But they make on Takuto Kaneshiro, who was at the university with Maki together and practitioner trained in metallurgy. However, when animating the metallic nature, the Noguchi Frank has called, unknown soldiers storm the lab, which Frank suddenly comes to life and Maki and Dr. Noguchi die by an explosion.

Takuto, who survived, Frank makes for the death of the two responsible and wants revenge. He joins after his recovery than Ryu Soma organization FUNERAL fighting against the aliens. As Frank captures this again, this turns out to be the strongest weapon against the attacker, which must be protected. The only one who can talk directly to Frank, the girl Hattie that resembles Maki is.

Production and publication

The studio Sunrise produced in 2000, directed by Kazuyoshi Katayama the series with 25 episodes. The character design is by Shukou Murase and took over the artistic direction Masaru Ohta. The series was broadcast from 6 October 2000 to 22 March 2001 by the Japanese broadcaster TV Tokyo. 2002 was a 26 episode, which was published in the form of an OVA.

The series has been translated into English and Dutch and broadcast in French from the transmitters AB 1 and manga.

Music

The music of the series was composed by Katsuhisa Hattori. The header title Silent Wind comes from Eri Sugai, as the credits song used to Horizon by Sphere.

Manga

The manga was drawn by Mikami Akitsu and tells the story of the television series greatly reduced after. The single-volume comic book was published in September 2003 to German at Planet Manga.

Reception

According to the trade magazine Manga Zone Argento Soma is a remarkable series with a plot full of mysteries.
