Argyle is a small town in Denton County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States of America and is part of the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex.

Geography

The city is located in northeastern Texas on north-south running U.S. Highway 35, and U.S. Highway 377, about 65 miles from Oklahoma to the north away and has a total area of 28.9 km ², of which 0.1 km ² water surface. The distance to the southeast, Dallas is about 55 km.

History

The first white settlement in this area began in 1850 by a few families. 1875 a school was built in 1876 a church of Baptists and 1878, a post office, which was set up in the log cabin of Emily Wilson. The further growth of the town was slow and 1890, there were 148 people. Even after the turn of the century the town grew slowly, reaching in 1930 a mere 238 inhabitants. Connection to the public electricity and telephone network was the place until about 1935.

The Great Depression caused a decline in the population, with 90 inhabitants in 1950 reached its lowest level. Around 1970 they started with the construction of apartments for the rapidly growing population of himself nearby industrial cities of Fort Worth and Dallas and 1990, the population had grown to 1575 and the city developed .. the popular residential town of the middle and upper classes

According to the census of 2000, there were 2,365 people in 787 households and 694 families. The population density was 82.0 inhabitants per km ². Ethnically, the population itself is composed of 95.52 % White, 0.17 % African American, 0.63 % Native American, 0.25 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 2.45 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 0.97 % are descended from two or more races, and 4.27% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 787 households 44.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 80.1 % were married couples living together. 5.6% were single mothers and 11.7 % were non-families. 8.9% of all households were single-person households and 3.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.01 and the average family size is 3.19 people.

30.7 % of the population were under 18 years old, 4.8 % from 18 to 24, 28.0% 25-44, 30.1% from 45 to 64, and 6.4 % who were 65 years or older. The average age was 39 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 102.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 95.2 males.

The median income for a household was $ 91,161, and the median income for a family $ 94,309. Males have a median income of $ 58,500 versus $ 36,250 for females. The per capita income was $ 39,791. 3.4% of the population and 2.8 % of families are below the poverty line. Of which 3.4 % have children under the age of 18 and 6.5 % of those 65 or older.
