Biography

Ozan Arif makes folk songs and support with his songs the nationalist Nationalist Movement Party (MHP ) and the followers of the Grey Wolves, his songs were banned frequently and are very controversial.

After the military coup in Turkey on September 12, 1980 Ozan Arif also had to leave Turkey on September 24, like many other Turkish nationalists and moved to Frankfurt, where he lived for eleven years. During these years he continued to support his party, such as through concerts, which took place in many countries. On September 5, 1991, he returned to his homeland Giresun, in the village of Hapu, back.

In his 2006 album: Ak mı kara mı? ( Color: Light or dark ), he has, among other things, a very provocative song published (Adam değilmiş - He was not a man), in which he sings about someone whose name he does not mention explicitly. However, it should be known that he thinks Devlet Bahceli (current leader of the MHP). Then there were protests from Bahçelis page, eg the statement: " Sen kimin ozanisin " ( Whose singer are you? ). In an interview Arif complained that the Turkish national movement being manipulated. He will, no matter what tell the party leader, continue to live according to the basic principle of Turkish nationalism and publish his songs.

In one of his television appearances he visited the Turkish singer İsmail Türüt in the show Türüt Sov. He sang a few songs, among others, Karar Milletin - Apo asilsin asilmasin mi mi? ( The decision belongs to the people - Should Abdullah Ocalan to be hanged or not?) And Bir it vardi tutmuşlar Marmarise atmişlar. ( There was once a dog that one has grabbed and thrown to Marmaris. ). Because of those two songs to Ozan Arif Ismail and Türüt had to answer to the court. Arif were accused of sedition because of the first song. In defense, he said that the court had condemned the terrorist leader ever to death, and thus he only quote what the Turkish authorities have determined. This death sentence was annulled in subsequent proceedings and sentenced Abdullah Ocalan sentenced to life imprisonment in the state prison İmralı.

The other song was accused to him that he had told a short anecdote before he sang the song Bir vardi it. This was about a wolf being chased by a dog, which he had not done anything and that there had also been so in Ozan Arif's village a "dog". He was accused to have the 7th President of Turkey Kenan Evren offended. These accusations he could refuse, since he had never mentioned explicitly specify the name Kenan Evren.

For Ozan Arif Alparslan Türkeş was a leading figure. His platonic love for Türkeş he mentioned explicitly in many of his songs, as well as in one of his last title: Öyle özledim ki. In this song he describes how much he missed him and that he wanted to die so that he him, it was also after death, could meet again.

After a text for Arif Ismail Türüt wrote in the alleged murder of Hrant Dink was approved, both were back in court in 2007, but were acquitted in 2009.
