Arisaig

Arisaig ( Scottish Gaelic: Àrasaig ) is a Scottish village in the council area of Highland. It lies on the west coast of Scotland a few kilometers south of Mallaig.

History

For Scottish patriots Arisaig is significant as Bonnie Prince Charlie embarked on 20 September 1746 near Arisaig to flee after the failed Jacobite rebellion to France. Today, a Gedanktafel reminiscent of the historic event.
