Arjuzanx

Arjuzanx ( Gascon Arjusan ) is a commune in the Landes department in the region of Aquitaine.

The 213 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) counting place is located in the Landes region in central Grande or Haute- country in the Landes forest by the river Bès, a right tributary of the Midouze. 6 km to the west is Morcenx.

On the eastern outskirts of the village lies the Lac d' Arjuzanx, a total of 2,500 hectare fenced nature reserve with meadows, fields and several lakes. The terrain is created in 1980 by restoration of a former lignite mining area. The lakes were created by flooding of residual holes. At one of the lakes in the vicinity of D38 ( Mimizan - Mont -de- Marsan ) is a guarded beach. The area is an important wintering and staging area for several thousand cranes.
