Arkady Gaidar

Arkady Petrovich Gaidar (Russian Аркадий Петрович Гайдар, actually Golikov; * 9 Januarjul / January 22 1904greg in Lgow, Russian Empire, . Lepljawa in 1941, Rajon Kaniv, Cherkasy Oblast, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, like † 26 October. ) Was a Soviet youth writer.

His most famous work Timur and his squad describes a youth group that helps single women left behind and families of soldiers at the front in a Russian village in everyday things. The book is about the hero Timur ( the name of his son born in 1926 ) was the model for the " Timur Movement", in this helpfulness should be implemented in everyday life. The book was widely used in the socialist countries of Central and Eastern Europe and popular.

As correspondent of Komsomolskaya Pravda Gaidar was sent to the Soviet Union after the German invasion to the front. After his military unit was surrounded by Germans, he joined a partisan unit and was a machine gunner. He fell in battle with German troops.

His grandson Yegor Gaidar was in 1992 the Russian prime minister.
