Arlit is a department in the Agadez Region in Niger.

Geography

The Department is located in the north of the country on the border with Algeria. It consists of the Municipality of Arlit and the rural communities Dannet and Gougaram. The eponymous capital of the department is Arlit.

History

The territory of the department Arlit was originally part of 1964 created Arrondissement Agadez, which consists of a district ( circonscription ) emerged the same name in the Aïr region. The area of ​​the arrondissements of Agadez in 1969 divided between the arrondissements Arlit and Tchirozérine.
