Armoured Angel

Armoured Angel was an Australian Death - Thrash band. She was one of the pioneers of extreme metal, both in Australia and around the world and also enjoys years after its dissolution cult status in the worldwide metal scene.

Band History

The group was founded in 1982 by bassist Glen "Lucy" Luck and guitarist Rowan Powell Metal Asylum in Canberra. After renaming in 1984 Armoured Angel, the first line-up with drummer Dave Davis and singer Rick Wayy was completed in 1985 and released their demo Baptism in Blood. In 1987, Luck swapped the members of the band completely and took the twins Joel (drums, vocals) and Matt Green (guitar) in the band. The trio released 1989 demo Wings of Death and 1990 another demo, entitled Communion. In 1991 initiated the band's Metal for the Brain, to raise money for her boyfriend Alec Hurley, who was seriously injured in a brawl. A little later signed a contract with Armoured Angel Id Records, a sublabel of Polygram Australia. By the associated promotion group for the Big Day Out 1993 as well as support for the Australian tour of Morbid Angel has been posted. In the Id Records EPs Stigmartyr (1992) and Mystery Show ( 1994). More attention the band learned through reports on radio station Triple J and in the daily newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald.

After a tour of Europe and North America in 1995, the group began work on their debut album. A planned collaboration with Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke as a music producer failed, from the studio recordings exists only a pre-production demo with four of the seven titles. Shortly thereafter, the group disbanded, the organization of the Metal for the Brain took over from 1996, the Australian band Alchemist. 1998 reformed founder Glen Luck, the band and took the debut album Angel of the Sixth Order on with guitarist and singer Yuri Ward and drummer Steve Luff, which appeared in the Australian independent label Warhead Records in 1999. Because of the lack of success and the failure of the record label, the band split after their last live appearance at the Metal for the Brain in November 1999 final. Rumors of a reunion in 2008 were denied by both guitarist Yuri Ward and Glen Luck.

The demos and EPs the group were re-released several times. In 1991, the 1989er demo Wings of Death was released by the English label CCG Underground Records as a 12 " mini - LP. When Australian label Abysmal Sounds published in 2008 re-releases the 1985 Demos Baptism in Blood and the 1992 EP Stigmarty. In December 2006 Glen Luck began with the re-mastering of the songs of the two EPs, the unreleased 1996 album, and the debut album, these versions should be published in 2008 as a double album with the title Trisagion. So far, this compilation is not yet published.
