Arms and Sleepers

Arms and Sleepers is an American musical duo, which is composed of Max Lewis and Mirza Ramic from Boston from Portland. Her style is usually referred to as Ambient or Trip Hop.

History

Max Lewis and Mirza Ramic were once members of The List Exists, a post- rock band from Brunswick. When they broke up in 2006, decided the two together to start a new music project. According to information provided the foundation was inspired by an incident that has taken place in an ambulance in Cambridge: Lewis and Ramic experienced while the death of a man, the gospel music heard on a tape recorder.

The first publication from Arms and Sleepers was the EP Bliss Was It In That Dawn To Be Alive. The debut album Black Paris 86 appeared in 2007. Both were well received by critics. In 2009 they had their second album Matador. Musically, it is a breach, since many do not purely instrumental pieces can be heard on it compared to the previous releases. Matador was produced in collaboration with other musicians, including Tom Brosseau, Philip Jamieson of Caspian, as well as Ben Shepard and Catherine Worsham of the post-rock band Uzi and Ari. The third album, The Organ Hearts, was released in May 2011 and was also recorded in collaboration with Uri and Azi.
