Arne (mythology)

Arne (Greek Ἄρνη ) In Greek mythology, the illegitimate daughter of Aeolus and a daughter of the centaur Cheiron. According to the Greek historian Diodorus Siculus they had with the god Poseidon two sons, but only came into the world after Aiolos Arne sent along a man from Metapontus. The sons of Aiolos and Boeotus were adopted by this man, but later killed in battle his wife. Then Arne fled with her sons.
