Arnold Berliner

Arnold Berliner ( born December 26, 1862 Good means new territory at Neisse, † March 22, 1942 in Berlin) was a German physicist.

Life

Arnold Berliner studied physics at the University of Breslau. In 1886 he received his doctorate with the work to Molecularrefraction organic liquids.

He was employed by AEG and was then editor of the journal, the natural sciences, which he had an outstanding position in physics in Germany. He was also, along with Karl Scheel editor of Physics dictionary (1924, 2nd edition 1932). Berlin was a close friend of diverse cultural and artistic interest and among others, Gustav Mahler

Because of his Jewish descent in Berlin in 1935 forced the publisher to give up the editorship of the natural sciences. He did not manage to emigrate. His deportation he came in 1942 from suicide before.
