Arnold Gerschwiler

Arnold Gerschwiler ( born May 28, 1914 in Arbon, † August 22 2003 in Cheam, England) was a Swiss figure skating coach.

Gerschwiler was the half-brother of figure skating coach Jacques Gerschwiler and the uncle of the figure skating world champion from 1947, Hans Gerschwiler, he himself led as a coach on this title. He trained in London after Jacques Gerschwiler had encouraged him to do so. He was head coach from 1938 at the Richmond Ice Rink and its director from 1964 until 1992. Among his pupils were Alena Vrzáňová, Sjoukje Dijkstra, John Curry and Valda Osborn.

Gerschwiler married in 1941 Violet Blundell, with her he had two daughters, Stella and Claire.

He was inducted in 1985 in the Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1997 and awarded the Order of the British Empire.
