Arnsgereuth is a district of the town of Saalfeld / Saale in the district Saalfeld- Rudolstadt, in Thuringia.

Location

The mountain village Arnsgereuth located in the Thuringian Slate Mountains southeast of the town of Saalfeld. Federal highway 281 leads from Saalfeld up in the mountain village and connects it to the surrounding region.

History

In 1357 Arnsgereuth was first mentioned in a document.

Arnsgereuth 1544 was affected by witch hunts. A woman was caught in a witch trial.

Until 1 December 2011, the place was a separate municipality. Covering an area of 4.03 km ² lived 253 inhabitants. The village is 590 meters above sea level. The Member of Parliament Carola Stauche (CDU ) comes from Arnsgereuth.
