Streets and roads

There is no public roadway in the area, only a very steep forest road from Leutascher district Ahrn on the high saddle. Walkways lead to the individual peaks from the hamlet Ahrn and hunting lodge Hoher Sattel. During the Great Arnspitze and Arnplattenspitze either of Mittenwald on the Riedenberg or Scharnitz can be achieved as partially exposed mountain tour, requires the Gratüberschreitung of the three peaks and thus the Middle Arnspitze climbing skills in the second degree. The most scenic climb to the Great Arnspitze leads from the Leutasch on the Riedenberg lip and the aft heads. Below the summit is at 1930m the unstaffed Arnspitzhütte.

Geology

The Arnspitzgruppe is part of the Northern Limestone Alps and tectonically belongs largely to the Inn Valley ceiling, only the northernmost part from the Riedenberg Charter belongs to the Lechtal. The Arnspitzgruppe is built for the most parts from rocks of the Wetterstein incident to southeast towards. In the area of the high saddle a band Raibler attracts layers from west to east, while the south the Arnspitzen upstream Zunteregg 1682 m above sea level. A. is composed of rocks of the main dolomite. At the foot of the Great Arnspitze early lead was mined. The mine was on Bavarian territory just north of the Austrian border in the Isar valley, at the southwestern end of the Ried soil.

Nature reserve Arnspitze
