Arnulf II, Count of Boulogne

Arnulf II (franz: Arnoul, † after January 31, 972 ) was a count of Boulogne and Ternois. He was a son of the Count of Boulogne Adalolf († 933 ).

About Count Arnulf II little is known. In 936 King Louis IV landed at the port of Boulogne in Overseas, after he had been proclaimed by the West Frankish Great under the leadership of Hugo Magnus Dux king. Arnulf is not mentioned among those present who received the king, but his uncle, Count Arnulf I of Flanders. Probably the uncle had taken control in Boulogne and displaces his nephew of the same name from there. The Count 's son Baldwin I (III ) occurs in a donation to the Abbey of Saint Peter in Ghent 954 with the title of Count documented in appearance, which is close the the Boulogne had received from his father.

But in 962 Baldwin died before his father, whose influence began to wane. This made himself king Lothar to use to the royal power in the north to strengthen. In the same year he belieh Arnulf, son of Adalolf, with Boulogne, making this county so was no longer as a fief of Flanders but as fiefs and Arnulf II thus occurred as a direct vassal of the king. Nevertheless, Arnulf appears to have continued to maintain his Flemish cousins friendly contact, especially in office since 954 underage Count Arnulf II of Flanders under the guardianship of his half brother, Baldwin " Baldzo " stand. Arnulf himself acted as a witness 972 a donation of Count Arnulf II of Flanders to the Abbey of St. Peter at Ghent. Then nothing more is known of him.

The Count Baldwin II of Boulogne was probably his son.
