Guinea Fowl Puffer ( Arothron meleagris )

The guinea fowl puffer ( Arothron meleagris ) lives in the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific. His exact distribution area extends from the coast of eastern and southern Africa to Japan, Easter Island and Panama. He lives in shallow, coral-rich zones, no deeper than 25 meters.

The fish are 50 inches long and owes its name to the many white dots that cover their black body. There is also a yellow color nichtgepunktete form.

The guinea fowl puffer feeds on coral polyps, which he eats by biting off the tips astförmiger corals like Acropora to complete. He also eats sponges, bryozoans, mollusks, crabs, sea squirts, algae, foraminifera and detritus.

He is popular as residents of public show and Zooaquarien, but can not be associated with invertebrates.
