Arrhichion

Arrhichion of Phigaleia (also Arrachion; † August or September 564 BC ) was an Olympic athlete of the ancient Olympic Games.

Arrhichion who had BC already won at the Games 572 BC and 568 the pankration, stepped back in to the games 564 BC. In this battle he was almost defeated, as was his head in a leg scissor his opponent. However, he did not give up; to the task avert, he broke up with his last strength, the toes of his opponent, who gave it by first. At the same moment, however Arrhichion suffocated. So Arrhichion was posthumously declared the winner.
