Arsaces of Pontus

Arsaces of Pontus lived in the 1st century BC and was briefly ruler of the Kingdom of Pontos.

Arsaces was the second son and the youngest child of King Pharnakes II and his Sarmatian woman. He had two older siblings, a brother named Darius and a sister named Dynamis. Paternal His grandparents were the Pontic King Mithridates VI. and his first wife, his sister Laodice. Arsakes grew up in neighboring Kingdom of Pontus and the Bosporan kingdom.

According to the Greek historian Strabo were Darius and Arsakes of a rebel commander, who also bore the name of Arsaces, watched over a period of time, as this gave a fortress, which was besieged by Polemon and Lycomedes of Comana.

Later Darius was BC used by triumvir Mark Antony 39 as ruler of Pontus. His reign as king was short, as he died in 37 BC. He was succeeded by his brother Arsaces. However Arsaces ' reign was of very short duration, as he already died early, probably in the same year. His successor was Polemon.
