Art mac Cuinn

Type [ aRt ], with the nickname mac Cuinn ( " son of Conn " ) or Óenfer ( " the only one ") is the name of a legendary figure from Celtic mythology of Ireland. He is a son of King Conn Cétchathach.

Mythology

In the story Echtrae Chonnlai ( " Connlas Adventure " ) is reported that brother Arts Connla follows a fairy of love into the Otherworld. Because type therefore remains as the only son of Conn, he received the nickname Óenfer. As the successor to his father, he has a reputation as a righteous king (FIR flathemon - " justice of the ruler "). However, Conn violates this righteousness when he marries the fairy Bé Chuma and banished his son Art for one year from the royal residence Tara.

In Cath Maige Mucrama ( "The Battle of Mag Mucrama " ) Type fights against Lugaid mac Con on the side of Eogan, son of Ailill Aulom, and falls together with this. Before his death he testifies with Eogans daughter the future High King Cormac mac Airt.
