Art Zoyd

Art Zoyd is a French avant-garde music group.

They were founded in 1968 in Maubeuge, France under the name of Art Zoyd III and are still active today. The musical style of the group moves between experimental contemporary music, free jazz and progressive rock.

Band History

The group was founded in 1968 by Rocco Fernandez and had to 1979, 30 different members. In 1971, Gérard Hour Bette and Thierry Zaboitzeff members of the group. After her debut album Symphony pour le jour ou les cites bruleront (1976 ) paused the band due to personal problems and changing line for several years. Following the release of their third album Art Zoyd toured through Europe in the eighties. Have a significant share in the work of Art Zoyd today soundtracks to silent films of the 1920s, for example, by Friedrich Murnau and Benjamin Christensen. Other albums include music for ballet and theater festivals.
