Kasper T. Toeplitz

Kasper T. Toeplitz ( born 1960 in Poland ) is a French composer and electric bass player who has settled with his compositions and soundscapes in " no man's land between traditional modes of composition ( for orchestra or ensembles, opera ) and electronic new music or noise music. " He lives in Paris.

Biography

His earlier works, he wrote mainly for traditional instruments. Toeplitz cites as influences Giacinto Scelsi and Iannis Xenakis. He has also written music for modern dance and theater music. One of his main interests is true of literature. His first opera J'irai vers le nord, dans la nuit J'irai polaire he wrote based on Sylvia Plath's texts, the opera revolves around Sylvia Plath's life. Great Expectations was written to Kathy Acker's texts, ruin is based on texts by François Bon. For some time Toeplitz also combines visuals with his musical works (for example, capture for computer Solo, together with Dominik Barbier = K_Apture ). He also plays for his electric guitar orchestra, Sleaze type written, and runs his own label ROSA ( Recordings of Sleaze Art) Records.

Bass Computers

Scholarships and Awards

For his work he won different prizes and awards: 1st Prize for orchestral composition at the festival Besancon, first prize in the competition Opéra Autrement / Acanthes.
