Artemisia arborescens is a species of the genus Artemisia in the sunflower family ( Asteraceae).
Features
Artemisia arborescens is a shrub that reaches the plant height of 50 to 100 centimeters. The leaves are one to two times pinnatisect, stalked, white tomentose and aromatic. The head stand is a panicle. The heads are many flowered. The outer flowers are female and have a filamentous crown. The inner petals, however, are hermaphroditic. The fruit is hairy bottom.
The flowering period extends from May to August.
Occurrence
Artemisia arborescens occurs in the south (west ) union Mediterranean. The species grows on Ackerrainen, limestone rocks and old walls. In Crete it is found at altitudes from 0 to 500 meters.
