Arthur D. Little ( ADL) is one of the leading management consultancies. It was founded in 1909 by the MIT Honorary Doctor Arthur Dehon Little in Cambridge (Mass. / USA) and is considered the first consulting company in the world.

History

Arthur D. Little, founded in 1909 by Arthur Dehon Little, Boston (USA ). 1886 Little had founded with his colleague Roger Griffin, the laboratory " Griffin & Little Chemical Engineers ", which was first engaged in the paper industry with chemical processes. Griffin died in 1893 in an explosion in his laboratory; Little went on alone, have to leave in collaboration with professors from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT ), which he had before his graduation later because he could no longer afford the tuition fees.

ADL considered Griffin & Littlefield as its predecessor firm and regards itself as the oldest consulting company in the world.

The early 1980s, Arthur D. Little had risen to the greatest advice in the world, but this place lost in subsequent years after it was too strategically placed on technical engineering rather than on the strategy advice.

Among the major strategy consulting firms Arthur D. Little stands out in particular by the strong entrepreneurial character. During the Internet boom Arthur D. Little marketed its own patents and was strongly affected than the time listed company of the bursting of the Internet bubble in 2001. After the resulting financial problems Arthur D. Little in 2002 had to file for compensation in the U.S. and initiate proceedings under Chapter 11. Then supported the French Altran Network (a network of smaller consulting firms with approximately 17,000 employees ) the buyout of most of the consulting business.

Effective 1 January 2012, Arthur D. Little to the most senior employee (partner ) of the company was sold. CEO of the company is Ignacio Garcia- Alvez.
