Aruna (Hittite mythology)

The Hittite- Hurrian god of the sea, usually mentioned in cuneiform texts "the sea ", is a mostly antagonistic deity of many of Hittite and Hurrian myths.

The god of the sea kidnapped in a Hattish - Hittite myth of the sun god Ištanu. Telipinu to free Ištanu while preserving Ḫatepuna as bride manages. The sea-god is Ḫatepunas father. The sea god prepares the rescue Ištanus before the frost demon Ḫaḫḫima in another myth. In the Hittite- Hurrian Ḫedammu myth of the sea is the father of the beautiful giantess Šertapšuruḫi that God Kumarbi, father and enemy of the Weather God tarhun marries. The Hurrians Impaluri regarded as vizier of the sea god.
