Arville (Loir-et-Cher)

Arville is a commune with 91 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) in the department of Loir -et -Cher in the Centre region. It belongs to the district Vendôme, in the canton of Mondoubleau and is a member of the Association of Municipalities Collines du Perche.

Geography

Arville is located in the north of the department of Loir -et -Cher, about 60 kilometers southwest of Chartres and 55 kilometers east of Le Mans. Through the village flows the Couëtron, a tributary of the Braye. In the northwest of the municipality is the route of the high-speed rail line TGV Atlantique runs.

Coming of the Knights Templar

The Coming of the Knights Templar was built in the early 12th century in a forest, which gave them Gottfried III. , Count of Mondoubleau. The Coming was managed as a manor house, also served as the recruitment and training of new Knights Templar. The Templars managed the Coming up to the dissolution of the Order by Philippe IV, who accused them of heresy.

Subsequently, the material fell into the hands of St. John, who farmed the Coming up to the French Revolution. The town was seized as national property and sold to farmers who settled here. 1979 bought by the community association Collines du Perche the Coming and let it restore. Today, classified as a monument historique building complex is a museum.
