Aryenis

Aryenis of Lydia was, according to Herodotus, the daughter of Alyattes II and sister of Croesus.

Aryenis was married to the king of the Median Astyages. Herodotus also reported that Astyages said to have been plagued by a dream in which Mandane so much water was that his kingdom was flooded it. In fear for his throne he gave Mandane no Meder, but the Achaemenid vassal prince Cambyses I. wife.

The marriage of Aryenis with Astyages should be done for tactical reasons, to end the dispute between Cyaxares II II and Alyattes. For the reports of Herodotus and its identification as a mother of Mandane are no cuneiform documents, which is why these assumptions are evaluated as a legend.
