AS Dragons

Amicale Sportive Dragons is a Congolese football club based in Kinshasa. The club is a multiple national champion and stood in the 1980s under the name AS Bilima twice in the final of the African Cup of Champions Clubs.

History

The club was founded in 1938 under the name AS Bilima. After the country gained independence from Belgium in June 1960, the team has become one of the leading clubs, the first of which testifies Championship 1965. Subsequently, however, the dominance of the trio AS Vita Club, Imana Tout Puissant Mazembe and Kinshasa, which was broken only sporadically developed. After the second league title in 1979, the club reached the playoffs in 1980 for the African Cup of Champions Clubs in which the Cameroonian opponent Canon Yaoundé prevailed. After a new title in 1982, the club gilded the fourth league title in 1984 again with a finals in the African Cup of Champions Clubs 1985 FAR Rabat was too strong.

In the 1990s, the now renamed AS Dragons club took several times the Coupe du Congo, but in the championship he could not build on the previous successes.
