Ascendancy is the second album by the American metalcore / thrash metal band Trivium. The album was released in 2005 on Roadrunner Records.

With Ascendancy Trivium made ​​the breakthrough in the metal scene. Four singles ( "Like Light to the Flies ", "Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr ", "A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation " and " Dying in Your Arms " ) were released from the album. For every single video clip was filmed. Additionally there is a promo video for " Rain".

The album was recorded in the Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford (Florida ) and in Morrisound Recording in Tampa (Florida ), directed by Jason Suecof and Matthew Heafy. The album was mixed by Andy Sneap.

In the U.S., the album reached place 151 in the album charts. In the UK, the album reached number 78 and sold over 100,000 copies. For Ascendancy received a gold record in the summer of 2006.

In May 2006, the album was re-released. In addition to four bonus songs republishing contains a DVD with concert recordings, which were recorded in London.
