Ascot d'Oilly Castle

The Ascot d' Oilly Castle is a listed monument. It is located on private land north of the village of Ascott-under -Wychwood, Oxfordshire, England. A fragment of the castle still stands and is a Grade II listed building.

It is believed that the castle was built around 1129 and was demolished shortly after 1175. There are remains of a stone tower. It was excavated by Martyn Jope and RI Threlfall in 1959, with ceramics of the 12th century was discovered. The remains consist of a by a wide moat surrounding the mezzanine floor. Only traces of the tower are still standing, and they suggest that he had dimensions of about 10.7 m square with 2.4 m thick walls.
