ASG Vorwärts Cottbus
The ASG Vorwärts Cottbus was a sports community and in the meantime a Sport Club of the Army Sports Club forward in Cottbus, which existed from 1955 to 1974. It was mainly known for its football section. With Dietmar Geilich they presented in 1974 but also a vice- champion in boxing. Sports facility of the community, the stadium was "8 Mai ".
Football
Forward Cottbus was formed in August 1955 from the first team of SC Forward Leipzig, where most of the Leipzig players were delegated to the Brandenburg Cottbus. The sports club newly formed initially called " SC Forward Air Force Cottbus ". The Niederlausitzer army footballers took over the starting position of the Leipzig for the newly created II DDR -Liga. At the time third- highest division of the GDR Cottbus acted five seasons before 1959, the rise was followed in the DDR -Liga. In the GDR - League team, the Army has established over many years. In 1962/ 63, the promotion to the top division DDR DDR - Oberliga was missed after Lok Stendal barely a second.
After 14 years of being second class followed in 1974 together with Motor Eberswalde and unit Pankow, the descent into the district league. The army sports club forward then decided the entire community again, this time to lay in the Saxon Kamenz. The first football team of the reorganized ASG Vorwärts Kamenz was integrated into the district league Dresden. Forward Kamenz was finally dissolved in 1985.
