Asgard Range

The Asgard Range ( German Asgard Mountains ) is a mountain range between the Wright Valley and Taylor Valley ( Antarctic dry valleys ) in Victoria Land, Antarctica. It extends from the upper end of the Taylor Glacier in the west, as far as Marbel Point in the east, where it borders on the McMurdo Sound. The mountain range is about 80 km long and 10 km wide and has its highest peak at Round Mountain with 2,410 m. His average lengths vary by about 1700-1900 m. He is part of the Transantarctic Mountains

The Asgard Range was named by the Victoria University of Wellington Antarctic Expedition ( VUWAE ) ( 1958-59 ) to Asgard, home of the Norse gods.

Reserves

The Linnaeus Terrace were declared Antarctic Specially Reserve No. 138. It is located at the eastern end of the Asgard Range north of Oliver Peak at 1,500 to 1,650.
