Ash Ra Tempel

Ash Ra Tempel ( 1977 only Ashra ) is a band from Berlin, which was founded in 1970 by Manuel Göttsching, Hartmut Enke and Klaus Schulze. In the early 1970s the band was next to Tangerine Dream, Agitation Free, Guru Guru, Can and others as the spearhead of the so-called Krautrock. Very early in the band featured alongside guitars and synthesizer on. Stylistically, the band of the Berlin School is attributed when the focus was more on the guitars than synthesizers.

The first album, "Ash Ra Tempel ", was recorded in 1971 in the studio of producer Conny Plank. Then Klaus Schulze left the band to start his solo career. In subsequent years, more albums were produced in the core cast Göttsching and sink plus changing musicians. Also Harald Grosskopf on drums and Lüül ( Lutz Ulbrich ) on guitar and keyboards were involved in some albums.

In 1974, the band took Manuel Göttsching "Studio Roma " in Berlin and the breakdown Paulsen studio in Frankfurt am Main for their recordings. The Manuel Göttsching alone rehearsed album "New Age Of Earth", originally published only in France in 1976, was released in 1977 under the now shortened band name " Ashra ". In the years that followed many tours and albums. Manuel Göttsching also took up solo albums, such as the internationally acclaimed album " E2 - E4 ", which in the 1990s was popular in the club scene and was remixed in different adaptations (eg, under the name of " Sueño Latino " ). Starting in 1997, reinforced the German musician Steve Baltes Ashra of samples and keyboards.

2010, the band was awarded the sound wave Honorary Award for lifetime achievement.
