Ashanti is an American adventure film from the year 1979. It is an adaptation of the novel by Alberto Vázquez -Figueroa Ebano.

Action

Anansa and David Linderby work as Physicians for the WHO in a West African country. With a swimming trip Anansa is kidnapped by slave traders, because it is mistaken for a woman from the Ashanti tribe. The authorities deny the slave trade and to David did not help in the search. So take this with a helicopter pilot Jim Sandell and the fanatical abolitionist Brian Walker on their trail and followed it through the desert to get to the slave markets and the backers of trade, especially Prince Hassan.

Criticism

Filmdienst ". magnificent landscapes in playing complex film that used the issue of the slave trade as a hanger for a superficial adventure story," Michael Caine was also disappointed by the project and called the film later, the worst of his career.
