Ashley Callus

John Ashley Callus ( born March 10, 1979 in Brisbane, Queensland) is an Australian swimmer who specializes in freestyle short distances. His coach is Chris Urquhart

Callus ' greatest success was winning the gold medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney in the 4x100 -meter freestyle relay. The Australian squadron, consisting of Michael Klim, Chris Fydler, Callus and Ian Thorpe, surprisingly won in world record time against the favored Americans.

Two years later, at the Short Course World Championships in Moscow callus achieved his greatest success in a single race when he won the first place about 100 m freestyle. He also won there silver in the 4x100m medley relay. In the Short Course World Championships in Shanghai in 2006, he won gold in the 4x100 -meter medley relay.

At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, he won gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay and silver in 100m freestyle. 2006 in Melbourne, he won silver in the 4x100m freestyle relay.
