Ashtown Castle ( Irish Caisleán Bhaile to Ásaigh ) is a listed building in the Phoenix Park, the largest recreational park in a European capital in Dublin, Ireland. It was, in a tower house ( fortified house ), a special form of a medieval castle.

Description

Ashtown Castle was modified several times throughout its history and changed corresponds in its dimensions nor the £ 10 - the castles. Among the English King Henry VI were built. History

1751 followed the initial work of the subsequent Ashtown Lodge, which was from 1774 modernized and expanded again. From 1782 to resided here the Under Secretary for Ireland.

From 1922 to 1929, the property has been a message for the United States. This was then transferred to the estate Deerfield. However, the use as a message remained for the time being. Apostolic Nuncio, the diplomatic representation of the Vatican, Ashtown Castle took until 1978 until the Restoration in 1989, the building was in poor state of repair, was among other things a use by the Taoiseach, the Irish head of government discussed.
