Asian Volleyball Confederation

The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC, German: Asian Volleyball Confederation) is the continental governing body of volleyball for Asia and Oceania. The headquarters of the Association is located in Beijing (China).

Profile

The AVC was founded on May 6, 1952, the initiative of the Japanese Nishikawa. At this time, the association had twelve members. After the FIVB decided at its Congress in September 1961 to set up committees of the continental zones of the Asian Association was renamed in 1962 in Asian Volleyball Federation ( AVF ). On October 8, 1962 Nishikawa was elected Chairman of the Asian Sports Committee (ASC ). Later, the Association received after a revision of the FIVB back to its previous name. In November 1976, the AVC chose the Japanese Maeda as the new President. He was replaced in November 1985 by his compatriot Yasutaka Matsudaira. Current President of the AVC is the Chinese Jizhong Wei.
