The spring asparagus (Asparagus setaceus ) is a plant of the genus Asparagus (Asparagus ) in the family of asparagus plants ( Asparagaceae ).

Features

Spring asparagus is an evergreen, perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of growth of 15 to 60 centimeters. The plant forms a rhizome. The bill leaves are filiform and measure 4 to 5 × 0.1 to 0.2 millimeters. 6 to 13 each are positioned at the nodes. The Journal spur is short. Jump to more than those on main stem. The flowers are individually at the ends of branches. The flower stalks are about 1 millimeter long.

The flowering period extends from September to October.

Occurrence

Spring asparagus originates in the Eastern Cape Province, Natal, Transvaal and the tropical East Africa in shaded ( Dune ) forests before. Meanwhile, the species is widely naturalized.

Use

Spring asparagus is widely used as an ornamental plant. The species is in cultivation since at least 1876.
